Lesson Plan: Estimating Roots - Grade Nine - Grade 09
Summary:In this lesson, students develop strategies to solve problems involving the estimation of square and cube roots. Students use lists of square and cube numbers, the Pythagorean Theorem and other mathematical tools to solve problem situations. Working with partners provides students an opportunity to share learning responsibility, use mathematical terms and solve problems in a variety of methods. Pre- and post-assessments support instruction by demonstrating evidence of prior knowledge and student learning.
